Welcome To The Club Members for 2012
The Members of Goodna Rugby League Football Club
As we move into another year of Rugby League, it is good to see that all of the positions for the club’s committee have been filled. Gary Parker continues as President, Cheryl Freeman as Treasurer and Tony Eilola as the latest addition as Secretary of the club. This year we also have a few new people come on board to help us out.
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome, Chris Smith, Joy Radcliffe, Andy Vellacott, Keiron Butler, and Paul Hooper to the committee. Norma Kumar continues on as President and Jenny Stewart as Secretary of the Juniors.

Centenary Celebrations Update
The Centenary subcommittee has been formed and is being led by John Lowry (Popeye to some). The committee meets periodically to discuss progress on the year’s celebrations. More helpers are required to make the Centenary a success so contact John or Gary Parker to see what you can do.
A major sponsor of the Centenary year is also being looked for. Again contact John or Gary for more detail.
A giant raffle is being organized to help provide some funds for centenary events. Tickets will be on sale soon for this raffle.
The Centenary book written by our own author Lyle Reed is in production and it is anticipated it will be available for purchase by the middle of the year.
Some Centenary souvenirs have been purchased and club gear. This will all be available for purchase by late February at the clubhouse bar. So far the club has ordered Shirts & Retro jerseys (Limited numbers available but can order more if required), Caps, Stubby holders, Key rings and Pens for sale at reasonable prices.
When the senior teams are playing at home at Richardson Park, some meet and great and trips down memory lane functions will be held at the club on these days in conjunction with the games. A light lunch will be served and give past players, friends and members the chance to catch up. These functions will be held at the pergola end of the clubhouse and an area cordoned off accordingly for your use and also then to watch the Mighty Eagles play against their opponents.
The first event is planned for Sunday 15 April when Goodna v West End and then the following week on Sunday 22 April when Goodna v Fassifern. A great chance also for the old boys of those clubs to come along to the game and relive memories.
Please watch the website, visit the clubhouse or read the local papers for regular updates.
Finally, a Gala week is being planned for the official celebrations. The details are to be refined but the week will culminate with a cultural fun day for the Goodna community followed by a Centenary dinner on Saturday 13 October at the grounds where the club hopes for some special guest speakers to attend. There may also be a Centenary lunch in lieu of the club’s popular Sportsman’s Lunch but this is to be finalised as yet.
Keep watching for updates.
Gary Parker
President
